NCCC Board of Trustees
Dr. Mitchell began her professional career in research followed by her position as a faculty member in the Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology at the University of Michigan. After sixteen years there, she moved on to lead the Molecular Therapeutics Program at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill's Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she also served as Associate Director for Translational Research and Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology. Authoring over one hundred twenty peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Mitchell conducts research relating to the development of new therapies for cancers of the blood. In addition to serving on NCCC's Board of Trustees since 2006, Dr. Mitchell has served as President of the American Society of Hematology, Chair of the Medical and Scientific Affairs Committee, and Vice Chair for Medical and Scientific Affairs of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America.
