NCCC Board of Trustees
"Having lost both of my parents to cancer, I've experienced at close range both the need for first rate analysis of the vast trove of data that has been accumulated about this family of diseases as well as the value of offering information and education to all those affected. Supporting NCCC's path-breaking efforts in these areas is a privilege." Jim Dern consults to nonprofit organizations with the Stanford Graduate School of Business's Alumni Consulting Team. In this capacity, he works on finance, strategy, and marketing engagements. He earned his Master's degree in Business Administration at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business and a degree in Environmental Sciences from Harvard University. Mr. Dern's prior professional experience includes his role as Managing Director at Bank of America, where he worked for eighteen years and also served as a divisional finance director, as well as his position as Manager of Acquisitions for two energy companies, Natomas Company and Conoco, Inc. He has evaluated performance and worked to develop product and business strategies for various business divisions and has also managed several acquisition efforts. Mr. Dern also worked on a project for NCCC's Cancer Information Service and joined NCCC's Board of Trustees in 2006.
