Assessment of Patients' Experience of Cancer Care (APECC)
Assessment of Patients' Experience of Cancer Care (APECC)
As cancer treatments and screening have improved, a greater proportion of cancer patients are surviving and living long and full lives. Medical professionals need to ensure that the follow-up care is meeting the needs of these patients. The aim of this study is to measure the health care experience and perception of health care quality among a multiethnic group of cancer patients. We developed a survey to assess the health care experience of men and women that were diagnosed with cancers of the bladder and colorectum and leukemia. More than 750 patients provided a completed survey. The data from these surveys are being analyzed to determine what aspects of follow-up cancer care need improvement.
