Enhancing Cancer Information Service for Latino Cancer Patients
Enhancing Cancer Information Service for Latino Cancer Patients
The ultimate goal of this project is to develop an intervention that combines CIS-initiated calls for Latino cancer patients with a dissemination campaign of the new program to physicians caring for Latino patients. This two-year study will gather qualitative information needed to further development of this intervention. Based on the distribution of Latinos, we selected two northern California regions: the Greater Bay Area and the Central Valley. Combined, these two regions account for one quarter of all Latinos living in California, comprising 5,294 new cancer cases each year among Latinos. Hypotheses: Is a proactive calling system acceptable and feasible? What are the necessary components? What are the best ways to disseminate the intervention among community physicians caring for Latino patients?
