Validity of self-reported family history of lymphomas

Validity of self-reported family history of lymphomas

Hodgkin lymphoma and other lymphomas sometimes occur in families, and information about family patterns of these diseases may be helpful to understanding how Hodgkin lymphoma develops. This study determined how much agreement exists between family history of lymphoma reported by women who participated in a previous NCCC study of Hodgkin lymphoma, and information about these illnesses from the medical record or the death certificate, obtained with the permission of the individuals. Results from this study will allow us to accurately describe population-based patterns of familial Hodgkin lymphoma and will also be useful for planning future studies of familial Hodgkin lymphoma.
